Residency

Saudi newborn residency from Canada

Was your baby born in Canada while your family lives in Saudi Arabia? Before you travel, your child needs their own visa to join you and be added to your Saudi residency. Voyages Classy Travel, an authorized agent of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Canada, helps you prepare this file from anywhere in Canada.

Who Saudi newborn residency is for

This service is for the parents of a baby under one year of age who live in Saudi Arabia with a residence permit (iqama) and whose child was born outside the Kingdom, for example in Canada. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers residents a residence visa to bring in their first-degree family members: the parent living in Saudi Arabia files the request online. Once it is approved, the process is completed here in Canada, and that is the stage where we help you.

Once the family is in Saudi Arabia, further residency steps are done there with the Saudi authorities; ask your employer or sponsor.

If one parent is a Saudi citizen, the situation is different: the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs offers its own services to Saudis whose child was born abroad, including for the passport. Let us know and we will point you in the right direction.

Documents to prepare

The list below shows the documents usually requested. They connect three things: the baby (a birth record showing the parents’ names, passport, photo), the parents (passports and residency details) and the family’s situation in Saudi Arabia. Since the baby’s passport is often the first step, apply for it as soon as possible after the birth. It must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Saudi Arabia.

Documents usually requested

  • Birth certificate
  • Parents’ passports and residency details
  • Family documents where applicable
  • Passport photo

Additional documents may be requested depending on your situation: we confirm the list for your family before you send anything.

The steps, from birth to arrival

  1. 1

    Apply for the baby’s passport

Your child needs their own passport. Apply as soon as you have the birth record.

  2. 2

The parent in Saudi Arabia files the request

The parent living in Saudi Arabia requests the child’s residence visa on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visa platform. Once it is approved, they send you the reference. We also tell you what your sponsor or employer may need to provide.

  3. 3

    We check the file

Every document is compared with the passports: names and dates must match everywhere.

  4. 4

    Submission and follow-up

As an authorized agent of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Canada, we submit your file through the proper channel and follow up on it. The decision belongs to the Saudi authorities.

  5. 5

    Arrival in Saudi Arabia

Once there, the child’s residency steps continue with the Saudi authorities. We explain what to expect before you leave.

Who decides, and when

The visa is issued at the discretion of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia. No agency can promise a date or a decision, and we do not publish timelines: each file is examined on its own by the Saudi authorities.

What we control is the quality of the file: complete, consistent and submitted the way it is expected. The baby's passport is usually the first step, so apply for it early. Wait until your child's visa is issued before buying return tickets.

Anywhere in Canada, without travelling

With a newborn, there is no need to travel: our visa service covers all of Canada and you can mail your documents to our Montreal office. We confirm what to send and how before you ship anything. Our team can help you in French, English or Arabic.

Questions about newborn residency

Can my baby travel on a parent’s passport?

Plan for a passport in your child’s name: it is one of the documents requested for the visa. We confirm what applies to your family.

Who files the first request?

The parent living in Saudi Arabia, online, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Without that approval, the file cannot be completed in Canada.

One of us is a Saudi citizen. Is this the right service?

Probably not. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has its own services for Saudis whose child was born abroad. Call us and we will point you in the right direction.

Should we apply quickly?

Yes. Start as soon as the baby’s passport is issued: the parent in Saudi Arabia must first obtain approval of the residence visa, then the file is completed in Canada.

Can you guarantee the visa?

No one can: the decision belongs to the Saudi authorities. Our role is to help you submit a complete and consistent file, which avoids the most common delays.
